Public Health

The mission of the Butte County Public Health Department (BCPHD) is to protect the public through promoting individual, community, and environmental health.

Public Health Injury Prevention

The leading cause of injuries at home and at play are drowning, falls, fires and poisoning.  Home and recreation related injuries suffered by infants to adults account for about a third of all injury related emergency department visits.  These injuries can be prevented.  We have included some prevention resources to help the residents of Butte County stay safe.

Poison Prevention

Knowing how to prevent one of the leading causes of child injury, like poisoning is important to help keep your children safe and allow them to live to their full potential. It isn't just chemicals in your home marked with warning labels that are dangerous.

Drowning Prevention

Drowning is a leading cause of death in children, including infants and toddlers. Most infant drowning occurs in bathtubs and buckets, while toddlers age one to four occur in swimming pools.

Home Safety

Home is a place to relax, play and enjoy spending time with family. Of course, accidents happen, and there will be minor scrapes and bruises along the way, especially as kids grow and discover new things. The problem is the more serious injuries that are often completely preventable.
