Meet Ying.

The clinic is lucky to welcome Ying Lo-Vang as our new Nurse Practitioner. Ying, a long-time resident of Oroville, attended Chico State where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree. After graduating, she worked at Feather River Hospital, first as a medical/surgical nurse and then as an obstetrical nurse. She also spent a few years working with Oroville Hospital’s OB department. With a hunger for more education and opportunity, Ying returned to school, earning her Masters of Science in Nursing from Sonoma State. She is certified as a nurse practitioner through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.

Ying was a young mother herself and has a vested interest in women’s health, especially birth control, family planning and pre-natal care. According to Ying, it’s important for sexually active women of all ages to have accessible birth control so they can have control over their family planning needs. Her favorite part of the job is interacting with clients. Ying, a mother of five ranging in age from five to 22, enjoys spending time with her family. With a large extended family, there’s always something happening!

Immunizations

The health department operates two public health clinics  that offer immunizations, travel shots, family planning, STD testing and treatment, health exams, and free condoms. Low-Cost or free services are available. The clinics often take same or next day appointments. All services are confidential.

Testing & Screening

Confidential testing, counseling, and treatment are available at the Public Health Clinics, located in Oroville and Chico. Services include: pregnancy testing, STD testing, HIV/AIDS testing, Tuberculosis testing, pre-employment testing and health screenings.

Family Planning

Our two public health clinics provide family planning services. Our family planning staff works to reduce the incidence of maternal and infant morbidity/mortality by promoting education and encouragement for responsible parenthood.
