Options For Recovery

Butte/Glenn Options for Recovery Program

The Options for Recovery (OFR) Program is a program that recruits, trains and approves resource parents, including relative caregivers, in Butte and Glenn Counties. Our goal is to have trained and approved resource homes dedicated to providing care to some of the most vulnerable children in our community in an effective and loving manner.

Every year many children in Butte and Glenn Counties are born into situations that are dangerous for them.  When it is determined that children can longer remain in the care of their parents, the Butte County Department of Employment and Social Services, Children’s Services Division, in collaboration with the Butte County Superior Court, may intervene.

Children deserve to have a home where they can thrive. At Options for Recovery we are committed to reunifying children with their parents, but until the parents get help and get healthy, we have to keep these children safe.

That’s where you come in. Can you open your home to a baby or toddler in need?

We place children 0-5 in specially trained resource homes and offer support to these children and the families we partner with.

Options for Recovery serves children who are:

  • Medically diagnosed with symptoms resulting from, or suspected to be resulting from substance abuse by a parent, and/or HIV Positive

And are:

  • Dependents of the Juvenile Court, newborn to 5 years old, and residents of either Butte or Glenn County.

Here’s how you can help!

Become an approved Butte County Resource Family by attending 21 hours of training for Resource Family Approval. Then attend an additional 30 hours of Options for Recovery training covering subjects such as caring for substance exposed infants, brain and child development, and how to help children build resiliency.

Our Options for Recovery resource parents also participate in family friendly events for ongoing training and support, in-home support, therapeutic play groups with an occupational therapist and additional supportive services. Please refer to the attached brochure for more information.

Together we can help protect and provide for the kids in our community.
