Private Industry Council (PIC)
PIC is Butte County's service provider for the Federal
Workforce Investment Act created in the year 2000.
PIC provides job training and employment opportunities
for the unemployed while offering incentives to hire
to local employers. We provide both adult and youth
services for persons who are unsure of their employment
goals, those looking to upgrade their job skills,
find a first job or seek retraining after a business
closure. Services include direct job referral, full-gamut
assessment, referral to job seeking workshops if appropriate,
classroom training, and on-the-job training.

EDD
can assist with CaLJOBS registration and other internet
job listings, refer for Veterans Services, State Disability
Insurance information, Unemployment Insurance Benefits
(UIB) assistance, as well as provide information on
the migrant seasonal farm worker services in this
area. There is also a job specialist available who
works directly with the CA Department of Corrections
to assist appropriate individuals needing assistance
with job search.

to Work
Provides assistance to remove health-related barriers
to employment. Services include pre-employment physicals,
assistance in obtaining medical care, health counseling,
education, and screening services. Qualified individuals
may be eligible for tattoo removal, cosmetic dental
services, weight reduction, nutritional counseling,
& other services.

Health & Wellness Program
Assists Butte County's County Medical Services Program
(CMSP) beneficiaries to understand and to utilize
CMSP benefits to promote health and to prevent illness.

The
Butte College center, in the Oroville CEC, provides
general information and referral for all Butte College's
programs and services. Career counseling and related

County Office of Education - Regional Occupational
Program
The
Butte County Regional Occupational Program (ROP) is
a career training program operated by the Butte County
Office of Education. In cooperation with local school
districts and the business community, ROP prepares
people for work by providing youth and adults with
marketable skills, work ethics, and job training needed
to build and keep a career. Twenty-five to thirty
different training programs are offered each year
throughout Butte County, all of which award a Certificate
of Proficiency to students that successfully complete
the coursework. Unique to ROP training programs is
the placement of students in training related internships
in private business and industry. ROP is fully accredited
by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.

Oroville
Adult School services over 4,000 youths and adults
annually with academic and vocational programs. Academic
programs include High School Diploma, General Education
Diploma (GED) preparation, computer applications (including
an o lab), job readiness, Vocational English as a
Second Language (VESL), Adult Basic Education, Career
Exploration. Vocational programs include Office Technology,
Computer Repair, A+ Certification, Emergency Medical
Technician (EMT), Medical Assistant, and Certified
Nursing Assistant (CNA) Training.

Training Center - Do-It Leisure
Do-It
Leisure is a division of the Work Training Center.
The Do-It Leisure Oroville Center serves persons with
severe and persistent mental illnesses. Do-It Leisure
is contracted out by Butte County Department of Behavioral
Health to run programs in Socialization and Day Rehabilitation.
All clients are referred to the program by Behavioral
Health. In addition, we provide a vocational training
group and education classes with the assistance of
a teacher from Oroville Adult School. Groups are offered
both in the community and on-site.

Department - Placement Unit
The Placement Unit is responsible for supervising
out-of-home placements for minors removed from their
parent's home as a result of continued law violations.
Minors are placed in group homes, foster homes and
other appropriate out-of-home placements based on
individual level of care and supervision needed.

Experience Works, Inc.
Eligible low-income seniors, age 55 and older, benefit from temporary paid training at a variety of community service assignments at public and non-profit agencies in their communities, prior to transitioning into the workforce. Training is individually designed to enhance skills related to employment goals and obtaining a job outside the program.
Program Qualifications – Documentation of eligibility must be provided prior to enrollment. Services are available to individuals who
- are at least 55 years of age or older
- have annual family income that is not more than 125% of federal poverty guideline
- are currently not employed
- are eligible to work in the United States (INS regulations)
- are a resident of Butte County
