- CalWORKs
Welfare-to-Work Program
The
CalWORKs Welfare-to-Work Program promotes a "work
first" philosophy. Participants test the labor
market as part of the Job Search Services provided
by the Community Employment Center, and facilitated
by Butte College instructors. When participants need
assistance to increase their job readiness, they are
encouraged to attend a variety of Job Skills Workshops,
enroll in Butte College, Oroville Adult School, or
a career training program through the Regional Occupation
Program. After recipients find work, a variety of
services are available for up to 12 months to assist
them in retaining their employment and become fully
self-sufficient.
-
CalWORKs Child Care Program
The CalWORKs Child Care Program assists families
transitioning off cash aid. There are three stages
of child care. Stage One is administered through the
Department of Employment & Social Services and
begins with a family's entry into the CalWORKs program
and continues for the first six months, or until the
participant's work or work activity has stabilized.
Stage Two and Three are administered by the Alternative
Payment Program under contract with the California
Department of Education. In Stage Two, parents who
have transitioned off cash aid can receive this service
up to two years after their cash has been discontinued.
Stage Three is a continuing child care subsidy for
low income families and can be used when funded space
is available.
- CalWORKs
Cal-Learn Program
The Cal-Learn Program was designed to assist pregnant
and parenting teens receiving CalWORKs, to attend
and graduate from high school or its equivalent.
- Employer
Services
Employer Services include applicant screening, testing,
assessment and referral, recruitment advertising and
coordination, interview facilities, internet-based job
listings and applicant database, onsite workforce needs
assessment, labor market information, and economic and
business development assistance.
