The Building Division would like to advise of the need for inspection and damage assessment of structures to homeowners and the public.  By calling the Building Division and requesting a disaster damage assessment, the Building Division can provide an unbiased, professional inspection of any damages to structures. 

The results of this inspection can let you know whether or not it is safe to continue to occupy your structure, and will provide a documented rough estimate of the cost of repairs, and a report of the overall condition and safety of a damaged structure for occupancy.  This report can also be used by contractors wishing to obtain building permits for repairs, insurance companies during claim valuations, and may be used as a general guideline for repair contracts. 

The Building Division would also like to strongly caution residents not to sign blank contracts, agree to have work performed without first seeing the contractor's current State and local licenses, or to allow work or alterations which have not been authorized by the Butte County Building Division.
