If you are looking to create jobs, talk with us. We process Building Permits including Plan Review, Inspections and coordination with other agencies to issue Permits. We process Development Applications including environmental review, provide zoning information and support long-range planning through the County’s General Plan. Code Enforcement responds to Building, Land Use, Abandoned Vehicles, Noise, Nuisance Abatement and the County’s Restrictions on Cultivation of Medical Marijuana Ordinance complaints.

Butte Creek Canyon Overlay Zone

 The Butte Creek Canyon Overlay will apply a new overlay designation to the General Plan’s Land Use Map and a new overlay zone to the Zoning Map. New text is being added to both the General Plan and Zoning Ordinance that will identify the overlay, explain its purpose and implement a new ordinance in the Zoning Ordinance. The Overlay was developed under direction of General Plan Conservation and Open Space Element Action Item COS-A6.2:

Work with Butte Creek Canyon residents and local groups toward adopting a planning strategy for a Butte Creek Canyon overlay. The purpose of the planning strategy is to facilitate the protection and preservation of the historical and ecological foundation of Butte Creek Canyon, including the survival of salmon, steelhead and other sensitive plants and animals such as the East Tehama Deer Herd, preservation of historical sites and ecological preserves, and the optimum balance of recreation and residential use.

A public workshop, continued from  October 27, 2016 will be held on January 26, 2017 at 1:00 pm at 25 County Center Drive, Oroville.  The public is encouraged to attend and provide comments either orally or written to the Planning Commission.  Additional information regarding this workshop is provided below.

June 30, 2016 Planning Commission Public Workshop

A public workshop was held by the Butte County Planning Commission on June 30, 2016 at 1:00 pm at 25 County Center Drive Oroville.  The purpose of the Public Workshop was to introduce the Draft Overlay to the Planning Commission and public and to receive public comment.  The Public was encouraged to attend and provided comments either orally or written to the Planning Commission.  The Planning Commission held a productive workshop with many public comments and discussion, and ultimately acted to continue the workshop until October 27, 2016.
