CEQA Environmental Document Filing Fees
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) imposes and collects a filing fee to defray the costs of managing and protecting California’s vast fish and wildlife resources, including, but not limited to, consulting with other public agencies, reviewing environmental documents, recommending mitigation measures, and developing monitoring programs. Fees are assessed on projects subject to CEQA, including projects where a negative declaration or environmental impact report is prepared. In addition, the Butte County Clerk charges a documentary handling fee, currently $50.00. Section 711.4 provides "a project shall not be operative, vested, or final, and local government permits for the project shall not be valid, until the filing fees required pursuant to this section are paid."
