If you are looking to create jobs, talk with us. We process Building Permits including Plan Review, Inspections and coordination with other agencies to issue Permits. We process Development Applications including environmental review, provide zoning information and support long-range planning through the County’s General Plan. Code Enforcement responds to Building, Land Use, Abandoned Vehicles, Noise, Nuisance Abatement and the County’s Restrictions on Cultivation of Medical Marijuana Ordinance complaints.

About the Planning Commission

The Planning Commission is composed of five regular members appointed by the Board of Supervisors who represent the various geographical areas and the commercial, industrial, and agricultural interests of the County. The Commission reviews and acts on matters related to planning and development and advises the Board of Supervisors on various land use matters.

The Board of Supervisors may assign any or all of the following tasks to the Planning Commission (Government Code sections 65103, 65401, 65402):

  • Assist in writing the general plan and community or specific plans and hold public hearings on such plans;
  • Hold hearings and act upon proposed amendments to the general plan and community or specific plans;
  • Hold hearings and act upon proposed changes to the zoning ordinance and zoning maps;
  • Hold hearings and act on tentative subdivision maps;
  • Annually review the jurisdiction's capital improvement program and projects of other local agencies for consistency with the general plan;
  • Promote public interest in the general plan;
  • Consult with and advise public officials and agencies, utilities, organizations and citizens regarding implementation of the general plan;
    Coordinate local plans and programs with those of other public agencies;
  • Report to the legislative body on the conformity of proposed public land acquisition or disposal with the adopted general plan; and
  • Undertake special planning studies as needed.

The Planning Commission holds regular meetings once a month, usually on the 4th Thursday of the month, as shown on the scheduled meeting dates below unless it has no items pending before it.  Special meetings may be called as needed by the Chair or a majority of the Commissioners.
