Code Enforcement Starts Weekend Event Compliance Program

As the weather warms, the number of parties, weddings and other events begin to increase. So too do the complaints about these events. Problems can include large, unpermitted events, loud or after hour noise, parking on private and public roadways, unpermitted beer and wine tastings and public gatherings. Complaints typically come from affected citizens and neighbors.

In response to ongoing community concerns, Butte County is beginning a Code Enforcement After Hours Special Event Ordinance hotline. Beginning June 18, 2016 the program will assist concerned citizens and neighbors with after hour and weekend events. Through a newly established hotline, a Code Enforcement Officer will now be on-call and able to respond to problems and complaints at the time of the event.

Noise complaints generated by events, tastings, or public parties will be handled through the After Hours Special Event Ordinance program. Other noise complaints about private parties, motorcycle tracks, loud occupant music and similar issues should be referred to the Butte County Sheriff’s Office at 530.538.7321.

The on-call officer will be available to respond Saturdays from 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm. Code Enforcement staff will focus on complaints from the public, and investigate events and parties as they occur.

Concerned citizens and neighbors can call the After Hours Special Event Ordinance hotline and convey their concerns about an event while it’s happening. To reach an officer for After Hour event concerns/complaints, please calling 530.538.6292.

Additionally, the new hotline can be found on Code Enforcement webpage: After Hours Special Event Ordinance Program. To ask questions about the After Hours Special Event Ordinance Program, obtain additional information or offer comments during regular business hours, please contact our office at 530.538.6000 or email dscodeenforcement@buttecounty.net.
