The Child Support Investigations Unit (CSI) is located at the Department of Child Support Services.  The CSI Unit consists of one Investigator and one Investigative Assistant.  CSI provides civil and criminal investigative services for carrying out the requirements of all federal and state regulations for child support enforcement.  Their responsibilities include:

 

    Criminal

 

- Investigate criminal non-support cases per Penal Code sections 270 and 271

- Investigate violations of court orders per Penal Code section 166.4

- Serve outstanding arrest warrants on non-support cases

- Secure evidence for prosecution

- Serve subpoenas

- Extradite defendants arrested for non-support cases

- Provide courtroom testimony

 

    Civil

 

- Determine the location of parents for process service

- Serve documents such as:

   - Notices of contempt of civil court orders

   - Orders to show cause

   - Performs life style surveillances and field investigations

- Serve body attachments to ensure a party's appearance in court
