For nearly two decades, Supervisor Lucero has been involved in economic development centered around community media, arts, culture, heritage, tourism and agriculture. She believes economic and community development should be built around local assets and people. Having started a successful retail business at the age of 24, Supervisor Lucero now has 30+ years of business experience. Currently, she consults and manages two arts agencies and two public access television stations in Chico and Redding. Supervisor Lucero, a sixth generation Butte County resident, has a rare combination of business, nonprofit, and government experience, giving her the perfect blend to provide collaborative solutions for today’s leadership challenges.
Supervisor Lucero’s eight plus years as an award-winning journalist and editor, as well as a "tour of duty" in Washington, D.C. as an information specialist for a Hispanic advocacy group, seasoned her in government relations and negotiations. Her extensive grant writing background has enabled her to augment educational programs, festivals and events throughout her career. She has worked with young adults to develop specialized internship programs in public relations, marketing, video, television production, and event and festival production.
She was born in Chico, raised in Corning, attended Shasta College and graduated from Chico State with a degree in Communications and a minor in Latin American Studies. She sits on two state arts boards, is a member of the Latino Caucus of California State Association of Counties and is a recent former member of a community media alliance board that covers six Western states. She is married and has three adult children and a new grandchild.
