Disking incorporates rice straw and/or cover crop residues into the soil, and is typically followed by land planing and rolling. The typical sequence is:
  1. chisel - "opens" the soil to allow drying
  2. disking (or stubble disking) - incorporates any remaining undecomposed straw, done 1-3 times
  3. land planing - reduces clod size, levels the field
  4. rolling - further reduces clod size, "grooves the field
