The pesticide use reporting in the following graphics is depicted on a section by section basis as reported to the Department of Pesticide Regulation. Pounds of active ingredient applied to rice is reported by section, however, grower fields are not always completely within a section boundary. Consequently total amount of active ingredient applied per section may appear to exceed recommended use rates. Although the data represents the best pesticide use reporting in the United States, there are inherent limitations and potential errors. For example, if more than 50% of a field is present within a given section, then acreage in the remainder of the field is included with the primary section. Therefore, total acres treated per section may exceed 640.
