| On June 19, we concluded our 2012 online auction of tax-defaulted properties. Of the 153 parcels originally scheduled for the tax auction, 89 were redeemed prior to the sale and 13 were withdrawn. During the auction, 28 of the 51 parcels were sold for a total of $688,570. After paying off the current and defaulted taxes, approximately $483,000 will be available for distribution to parties of interest. The Treasurer-Tax Collector's Department typically conducts property tax auctions every other year. Our last auction was in June 2010. Originally, 77 parcels were eligible to be sold at the auction but many were redeemed prior to the sale. Of the 32 parcels offered at the tax auction, 20 were purchased.
