Secured Property Taxes

   Secured property tax bills are mailed annually in October and may be paid in two installments. The first installment is due by 5:00 p.m. on December 10 and the second installment is due by 5:00 p.m. on April 10. A secured property tax bill covers a fiscal year period, which begins July 1 and ends June 30 of the following calendar year.

We make every effort to mail a tax bill to new property owners prior to the December 10th deadline for the first installment.  However, if you do not receive your tax statement by November 1, please contact the Tax Collector's Office at 530-538-7701, or send an e-mail to taxes@buttecounty.netto obtain a duplicate copy and to verify your mailing address. Remember, as a property owner, you are ultimately responsible for ensuring that your property taxes are paid on time, even if you do not receive a tax bill.
