The work, located in Butte County, involves: Overlay of two lanes of a divided arterial roadway, including: traffic control; transition grinding; application of 0.08 feet of open-graded bituminous hot mix asphalt concrete friction course, over 0.17 feet of Type “A” hot mix asphalt concrete, over pavement reinforcing fabric; installation of thermoplastic traffic stripes, thermoplastic pavement markings, and retroreflective and non-reflective pavement markers; placement of aggregate base shoulder backing; and adjustment of existing metal beam guard rail.

1. Question: On page SPD-47, Bid tem No. 10) Asphalt Concrete (Type A), paragraph three states PGA 6a (modified) will be used as the paving asphalt oil. PGA 6a does not exist please advice what oil will be specified.
Answer: The correct paving asphalt oil is PG 64-28 modified. Addendum No. 1 addresses this change.

Answer: This project is not tied to the Caltrans Paving Asphalt Price Index.
3. Question: On page SPD 50, Bid Item No. 11) Paint binder Tack Coat (Open Grade), Calls out PG 64-10 paving oil for the tack coat. SS-1 50/50 is normally utilized. Please clarify.
Answer: Paving oil SS-1 50/50 is to be utilized for Bid Item No. 11) Paint binder Tack Coat (Open Grade). Addendum No. 1 addresses this change.
4. Question: On Page SPD-47, Bid Item No. 10) Asphalt Concrete (Type A) states, all leveling courses shall be considered as included with and paid for by the item “Asphalt Concrete” and no additional compensation will be allowed therefore. Please provide the locations, quantities and mix design for the leveling course.
Answer: A leveling course is not specified as part of the Skyway Overlay project.
