Butte County has filed a lawsuit against the California Department of Water Resources (DWR) in the Butte County Superior Court for damages sustained in the Lake Oroville Spillway Incident and its aftermath. Butte County and DWR officials engaged in settlement discussions over a period of months in an attempt to resolve Butte County’s claim for damages. Unfortunately, the parties could not agree on the scope and extent of damages. There are now four (4) lawsuits and the FERC Intervention administrative proceeding filed by Butte County against DWR.
