Many Butte County residents live in one of the five incorporated towns or cities: Biggs, Chico, Gridley, Oroville or Paradise. Butte County government provides services to residents through 23 diverse departments. Services include elections, road maintenance, public safety, solid waste disposal, and health and human services to name a few.

Butte County has filed a lawsuit against the California Department of Water Resources (DWR) in the Butte County Superior Court for damages sustained in the Lake Oroville Spillway Incident and its aftermath.

Aug. 6 - 16: Traffic Delays due to 2018 Chip Seal Program in Biggs and Gridley Area

Motorists, pedestrians and bicyclists in Biggs and Gridley should expect 30-minute delays on several roads Aug. 6 – 16, from 7 a.m. – 4 p.m., to allow Butte County Public Works Maintenance Crews to chip seal local roads.

24-Hour EBT Card Outage Starting June 23 at 11 p.m.

The state of California is transitioning to a new Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) vendor on June 30, 2018. Because of this transition, a statewide 24-hour EBT outage/black-out period is scheduled from 11 p.m., Saturday, June 23, 2018, through 11 p.m., Sunday, June 24, 2018. During this outage, cardholders will not be able to access their EBT food or cash benefits.

Butte County & Town of Paradise Officials release revised Paradise/Upper Ridge Evacuation Plan and a new East Oroville Evacuation Plan

Butte County and Town of Paradise officials have released a revised Town of Paradise & Upper Ridge Evacuation Plan.  The revised plan, dated 2017, includes evacuation zones covering the unincorporated lower Paradise area, and most recently the addition of an on-line web site to help resident’s “Find My Evacuation Zone.”

Senate Subcommittee Actions Show Support for Community Safety at Lake Oroville Facilities

Butte County is pleased to announce that the U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee approved the Fiscal Year 2019 Energy and Water Development Appropriations bill on Thursday, May 24, 2018, which includes specific language regarding the Lake Oroville Project Facilities.
