Butte County is a place of natural beauty with countless opportunities for recreation in both rural and urban environments. Many Butte County residents live in one of the five incorporated towns or cities: Biggs, Chico, Gridley, Oroville or Paradise. Butte County government provides services to residents through 23 diverse departments. Services include elections, road maintenance, public safety, solid waste disposal, and health and human services to name a few.

The Butte County Board of Supervisors appointed Wayne Barley, Butte County Chief Deputy Probation Officer, as Interim Chief Probation Officer at the recommendation of the Butte County Superior Court during the November 6 Board Meeting.

Butte County Library Offers Fee Amnesty in September

The Butte County Library is offering community members fee amnesty this September in honor of National Library Card Sign-Up Month. Throughout the month, library cardholders with outstanding library fees/fines and unreturned items can visit their local Butte County Library branch to have outstanding fines forgiven.
