Oro Quincy Highway above Mountain House now has one lane available for emergency evacuation purposes only. During emergencies, law enforcement officials and public safety officials will have the ability to open the gates and allow one way controlled traffic through the damaged areas if necessary to allow for efficient evacuation from wildland fires or other hazards.

The permanent repairs to this roadway will most likely now begin in Spring 2019, as the weather window to construct these repairs is rapidly closing, and the necessary State and Federal approvals necessary to begin construction have not yet been received.

Motorists are reminded that vandalizing County property (cutting locks or damaging gates) or traveling by vehicle through a closed area will subject them to citation under CA Penal Code 594 and/or Vehicle Code Section 21367.

Motorists can always find the latest road condition information via the interactive Road Conditions map at www.buttecounty.net/roadconditions.

Questions regarding this roadway closure should be directed to Dennis Schmidt, Director of Public Works at (530) 538-7681.
