The Butte County Board of Supervisors appointed Wayne Barley, Butte County Chief Deputy Probation Officer, as Interim Chief Probation Officer at the recommendation of the Butte County Superior Court during the November 6 Board Meeting. Barley will start in his new role upon Chief Steve Bordin’s retirement December 28, 2018.
Barley has worked for the Butte County Probation Department for 24 years and has been involved in all aspects of the Department.
“We have great staff who work tirelessly to help fulfill the Department’s mission of enhancing public safety through rehabilitation and accountability,” said Barley. “I look forward to supporting their efforts to serve the people of Butte County.”
The County will reopen recruitment in the spring. Barley was asked to take on the interim role and will lead the Department’s efforts until a candidate is selected.
“We appreciate Wayne’s willingness to step into this role and are confident in his leadership,” said Steve Lambert, Chair of the Board of Supervisors.
Barley’s appointment as Interim Chief Probation Officer is effective December 29, 2018.
