Mental Health Supports for Education  

These services, in partnership with Butte County Office of Education (BCOE), provide treatment for students with significant mood/behavioral problems impacting their educational experience. The partnership works to provide clinical services and assist students to become successful at school.

Multidimensional Treatment Foster Care (MTFC)  

Multidimensional Treatment Foster Care (MTFC), a program of Youth for Change, is an evidence-based behavioral modification program that serves youth who have emotional or behavioral health issues or exhibit delinquent behavior. The program is an alternative to residential treatment or group home placement. Trained foster families, therapists, and case managers support youth with resources, skills, supervision, structure, and therapy to modify behavior. This program works with the biological family throughout the process. The goal of MTFC is to reduce delinquent and disruptive behaviors and reunite youth to their biological family.

Outpatient Centers   

Youth Outpatient Centers provide treatment and care for behavioral and emotional needs of children, transition age youth (TAY), and families. The services include mental health assessment, group and individual therapy, family therapy, case management, and skill building. If indicated, psychiatric evaluation and medication management is available. We also provide referrals to community support providers.  

Age Range: 0-17 and 16-25

Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT)  

Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), provided by Youth for Change, is for children with behavior problems, placing emphasis on improving the quality of the parent-child relationship and changing parent-child interaction. In PCIT, parents are taught specific skills to establish a nurturing and secure relationship with their child while increasing their child’s pro-social behavior and decreasing negative behavior.

School Based Counseling   

Youth for Change, Counseling Solutions, and Victor Treatment Services provide mental health services in school settings throughout Butte County at over 60 campuses, covering most school districts. Clinicians provide a variety of counseling models and techniques to eligible students and their families. Medication services are available as indicated.

Therapeutic Behavioral Services (TBS)  

Therapeutic Behavioral Services (TBS), provided by Victor Community Support Services and Youth for Change, is a one-on-one behavioral health service available to youth under age 21 and who’s behaviors are possibly placing them at significant risk of an out of home placement. Therapeutic Behavioral Services are always used in conjunction with another mental health service.

Mobile Foster Care Team  

The Mobile Foster Care Team provides screening and assessment for youth detained and placed out of home by the Butte County DESS. Youth who are screen will be provided with age appropriate information about trauma and coping skills. Individuals who have underlying behavioral health issues will receive appropriate treatment services.

Mobile Transition Age Youth (Mobile TAY) Team  

The Mobile Transition Age Youth Team (Mobile TAY) provides services to young adults ages 16-24. The team works with young adults to provide the support and to teach the skills necessary for TAYs to transition into adulthood and to meet goals around self sufficiency. Services provided address 5  key areas:  

·         Clinical services for mental health improvement and stabilization.

·         Independent living skills including legal emancipation, fiscal management, housing acquisition and maintenance, and health-related supports and services.

·         Education and vocational training services including subject/career exploration, campus visits, training program identification, linking training to jobs.

·         Employment services including career and job interest and skills assessment; academic supports, employment readiness; job availability, acquisition, and retention.

·         Socialization opportunities including peer group assessment, identification of fun and healthy activities, and development of social supports and friends. 

The team recognizes the needs to make services available where youth are located, the program focuses on delivering rapid response and help directly to the individual at: school, home, Juvenile Hall, hospitals, job sites and/or on the street. Collaboration with the schools and other groups facilitate the ability to provide response in these locations.
