Crisis Intervention Team (CIT)
Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) is a collaborative effort among local law enforcement, other first responders, and behavioral health providers. The team’s goal is to improve the interaction between law enforcement or first responders and individuals and/or family members experiencing psychiatric crisis. If you find yourself in psychiatric crisis involving law enforcement or first responders, you can request a CIT trained professional and one will be sent if available.

Crisis Services (CS)
Crisis Services (CS) provides a variety of crisis intervention entrances to BCDBH. A 24-hour crisis line connects individuals 24/7 immediately to a mental health professional to provide telephone intervention, information, or referrals. The Mobile Crisis Team responds to hospitals for evaluations. Walk-in counseling is available 8 am to 11pm 7 days a week for individuals to receive face-to-face crisis intervention and assessment. Crisis Services also includes the Psychiatric Health Facility (PHF), Homeless Emergency Runaway Effort (HERE) Program, and the Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU).

Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU)
These services are provided to Butte County children, adolescents, adults, and older adults who are experiencing emotional and/or psychiatric crisis. The Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) provides up to 23 hours of specialized services to the community, including crisis intervention and stabilization, emergency medications, nursing health assessment, and mental health assessment.

The Friendship Line
(Older Adults)
The Friendship Line reaches out to older adults, offering a wealth of emotional and well-being resources. In the comfort and privacy of their home, seniors receive emotional support, reassurance, counseling, crisis intervention, abuse prevention help, medication reminders, well-being checks, and information and referral for additional care.

Homeless Emergency Runaway Effort (HERE) Program
The Homeless Emergency Runaway Effort (HERE) Program provides street outreach services, a 24/7 crisis hotline and mobile response, emergency shelter, assessment, case management, and brief individual and family counseling to stabilize living situations and strengthen families in an effort to provide safety and prevent runaway and homeless episodes.

The Hospital Alternative Program (HAP), provided by Youth for Change (YFC), is a short term intensive service for youth at risk of hospitalization.

Mobile Crisis provides evaluation to adults and youth who are experiencing a crisis in an emergency room or other community setting.

Northern Valley Talk Line
The Northern Valley Talk Line, provided by Northern Valley Catholic Social Services (NVCSS), is a non-crisis warm line offering peer to peer support, compassionate listening, and county-wide resource referrals. The Northern Valley Talk Line operates 365 days a year, 4:30-9:30 pm.

Psychiatric Health Facility (PHF)
The Psychiatric Health Facility (PHF) is a 16-bed, 24-hour acute non-medical facility. The facility provides a safe environment for individuals needing acute care for their mental illness during voluntary or involuntary admissions. During an average stay of 3 to 5 days, professional staff and individuals work together to restore and maintain each individual’s emotional well being in a therapeutic atmosphere. The individual and their family are encouraged to actively participate in their own care and treatment planning. In addition, the staff works toward returning the individual to the community at the least restrictive level of care.

Working Innovation Network (WIN)
The program provides a bridge from a mental health crisis to stabilization in the community. A team of behavioral health staff, individuals, and family members will provide services starting at the point of a crisis until the individual is well connected to ongoing services and established back in the community.
Working Innovation Network (WIN) is designed to provide innovative supportive services for adults, youth and their families helping these individuals and families experiencing a mental health crisis understand the nature of mental illness, the process of recovery and the systems that offer treatment. This team will work to reduce stress on families and individuals, and increase a sense of control and empowerment for individuals experiencing a psychiatric crisis.
