September is Library Card Sign-up Month
Butte County Library invites the public to carry the smartest card of all - a library card.
Library cards are always free, and in celebration of Library Card Sign-up Month, there will be no charge for replacement cards. Cards may be used to borrow items at all Butte County branch libraries and the bookmobile. Friends of the Library groups have generously donated “booksale bucks” for everyone who signs up for a new card during September.
Studies show that children who are read to in the home and who use the library perform better in school and are more likely to continue to use the library as a source of lifetime learning.
Butte County Library offers books, magazines, newspapers, audio books, videos and DVD’s, music on CD, Internet and select database access, and a helpful, dedicated, knowledgeable staff to provide assistance.
Story times are offered weekly, and special events for children and teens are regularly scheduled. Butte County Library provides a variety of programs to stimulate an interest in reading and learning, and works in close cooperation with the Butte County Library Literacy Services. It’s all free @ your library, and library cardholders know that a library card is a ticket to a world of opportunity.
On August 28, the Butte County Board of Supervisors passed a resolution recognizing the month of September 2007 as Library Card Sign-up Month in Butte County. To commemorate the occasion, the Board had a group photo taken with giant Butte County Library cards.
