Books by Mail

Who can use the Books by Mail Service?

You are eligible for Books by Mail if you are homebound or unable to visit a library facility in person because of a temporary or permanent disability, an extended illness, frailties of age or your work as a caregiver.

How do I apply?

Call us at (530) 538-5282 or toll free at (866) 806-1907. You may also print an application and mail it to the address on the form or fax to 530-538-7235

How does the service work?

Materials will be sent via the U.S. Postal Service to your home address in a reusable mailbag with a prepaid card for return postage. Material will be checked out on your Butte County library card for 4 weeks. If you need more time, you can renew your materials. You are responsible for overdue fines if materials are returned after the due date.

What can I borrow?

We will mail you any circulating book, video, book on cassette or cd or magazine owned by Butte County Library. You can make specific requests or we can choose titles for you based on your interests.
