Book Clubs in the Butte County Library
The library offers book discussion opportunities and many resources
to assist book clubs.
Library Book Clubs:
Chico: "I Love a Mystery Book Club" meets on the fourth Monday of the month at 3 p.m., sponsored by Chico Friends of the Library. For additional information, call 892-2762.
Oroville: "Thinking Readers" meets on the fourth Wednesday of the month at 10:30 a.m. or 7 p.m. The two clubs read different selections each month and they select from both fiction and non-fiction. For additional information, call 538-7642.
Paradise: "Library Book Group" meets on the last Wednesday of the month at 4 p.m. (Group does not meet in December). “sponsored since 1998 by the Paradise Friends of the Library”. For additional information, call 872- 6320.
Library Resources for Book Clubs
The Butte County Library would like to facilitate local book clubs with their reading material.
• The library has boxed sets of books with discussion questions available for community book clubs to borrow. Multiple copies of titles read by the library book clubs are available. Multiple copies of titles located in branch collections may be requested for a club.
• Nancy Pearl’s titles Book Lust and More Book Lust are available to assist clubs with their reading selections.
• Novelist is a great online database for book clubs to use to select titles, gather information about the authors, and select discussion questions.
• The Contemporary Authors database provides biographical information criticism, and a chronology of authors' works.
